Biography
Fergus was one of the sons of the king of all Brega and the supreme king of Ireland, Vogartach, poppy Neill , who died in 724. It belonged to Ui Hernayg , one of the two main branches of the genus Sil Aedo Slana [1] . Fergus gained power over Lagor in 738 after his brother Kernach poppy Vogartaig was killed by his own people [2] .
Nothing is known about the reign of Fergus poppy Fogartaig. The only evidence of him in the Irish annals is a report of his death in 751. The records of Fergus' death are the first mention in the Annals of Ulster of the title “king of the part of Bregui ” ( regis Deisceird Breg ), that is, of South Brega [3] .
After the death of Fergus, the poppy of Vogartaig was succeeded by his brother Kairpre . Fergus was the father of three sons: Mael Duin , Ailil and Kernach . All of them, as well as their father, were the kings of South Brega [1] .
