Vasiliev (Kalmykia)

Date of establishment of the settlement is not installed. The farm is marked on the map of the Red Army in 1941 ^[2] . In the period of the Battle of Stalingrad, the farm was at the front line. German troops were driven back from the farm during the November 1942 counteroffensive . On December 28, 1943, the Kalmyks were deported , the Kalmyk ASSR was liquidated, the village, like other settlements of the Maloderbetovsky ulus , became part of the Stalingrad region (returned to Kalmykia in 1957 ).

The farm is located in the north of Kalmykia , near the border with the Volgograd region on the western shore of Lake Barmantsak . To the west of the farm, the eastern slopes of the Ergeninsky Upland begin ^[3] . The relief of Sonkovo ​​is flat (with a slight bias towards Lake Barmantsak), the average height of the terrain is 1 m above sea level ^[4] . In the environs of the farm, light- brown soils of various granulometric composition are combined with solonets ^[5] .

There is no paved road to the farm. On a country road, the distance to the district center of the village of Small Derbety is 12 km ^[6] .

Social infrastructure is not developed. Institutions of culture (club, library), education (secondary school, kindergarten) and health care are located in the district center of the village of Malye Derbety . The farm is electrified, but not gasified. There is no central water supply, the need for fresh water is provided individually, by delivering water to each household. Drainage is carried out through the use of cesspools.
