Career
A native of York appeared on United at the age of eight. Already at the age of 15, the midfielder became the main player of the U-18 youth team, and at 16 he began to play and score for the reserve team.
The 2013/14 season was really productive for Cook. Having recovered from his injury, the talented midfielder first returned to the main team of the youth team, and then staked out a place in the reserve team. After nine years spent in the “white” system and progressively moving through all the steps of the club academy, in the summer of 2014, Lewis signed his first professional contract with the club and went to the pre-season training camp as part of the core team. Having proved himself well in Italy, where a football player took part in a number of friendly matches as a defensive midfielder, the football player remained to train as part of the first team.
On August 12, 2014, the midfielder made his debut for Leeds in the League Cup match against Accrington Stanley [1] , and a couple of weeks later, on August 30, he first entered the club’s starting lineup for the next Championship match [2] .
July 8, 2016 Lewis Cook moved to the Premier League club “ Bournemouth ” [3] .
International Career
Lewis Cook is well known to the football community outside of Yorkshire . From the age of fourteen, a football player is regularly called up to the England youth teams of various ages. In May 2014, Lewis was an important part of the England U-17 team , which won the European title. Cook appeared at the start in three of the five matches of the English in the tournament, including in the final [4] .
In August 2014, the midfielder was called up to the U-18 England team, for which he spent 1 match. In 2017, together with the England national team U20, he became the champion at the World Youth Championship .
In the fall of 2014, the player’s grandfather Trevor Burlingham bet £ 500 on his grandson Lewis Cook playing for England before celebrating his 26th birthday. Bookmakers accepted his bet with a quote of 33/1. March 27, 2018, Cook played for England - and his grandfather won 17 thousand pounds.
