Novopokrovka is located in the border zone , on the Russian-Chinese border .
It was founded in 1923 by immigrants from the village of Pokrovka in the European part of the country and named in memory of an abandoned homeland. The meaning of the name from the Orthodox holiday is the Intercession of the Day, celebrated on October 14.

Geography
The village of Novopokrovka stands on the left bank of the Amur .
The road to the village of Novopokrovka goes from Arkhara down the left bank of the Arkhara and down the left bank of the Amur River (via Zhuravlevka and Kasatkino ).
The distance to the district center of Arkhar is 78 km, the distance to the administrative center of the Kasatkino village council of the village of Kasatkino is 14 km.
From the village of Novopokrovka down the Amur there is a road to the village of Sagibovo .
