In the history of cinema, his name is often mentioned in connection with the events of the 26th Oscar ceremony in 1954 . The script for the film " Roman Vacations " received a figurine for the best literary source . Since the scriptwriter Dalton Trumbo was included in the " Black List of Hollywood ", his name was not called anywhere, and instead Hunter acted as the "front-liner" to whom they were awarded. Hunter handed over the entire fee for the painting to Dalton. Official changes to the history of awards were made only in 1993, after the death of both Trumbo and Hunter. The widow of screenwriter Cleo Trumbo received an Oscar on his behalf [4] .
Hunter himself was later blacklisted and went to the UK. With the participation of the British television company ITV in the television series Adventures of Robin Hood (1955-1959), his name was replaced with pseudonyms so as not to cause problems with the distribution of the series in the United States [5] .
He is the author of his own scripts, including the film “Outstanding Woman” (“A Woman of Distinction”, 1950) and the musical “Foxy” (“Foxy”, 1964), which was not very successful at the box office. In the second half of his career, he mainly worked on television.
