Formerly, at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century , these lands belonged to a large landowner and entrepreneur, the merchant of the first guild, M.E. Segal. Now it is the territory of the historical district of Sosnovka .
The development of the area between Svetlanovsky, Tikhoretsky avenues, Yashumov lane and Vernadsky street was formed in the 1960s. Then she turned on two historical streets - Green and Segal Avenue (now Rayevsky Avenue ). Both are now in fact are intra-driveways.
Vernadsky street was the largest in the quarter. It runs along the Alekseev Sports School (its official address is Raevskogo Avenue, 16 [1] ). By mistake on many maps, she subscribed as Raevsky Avenue (or Raevsky Pass).
In July 2014, the toponymic commission decided to end the confusion and assign the name Vernadsky Street to the nameless street in honor of the Russian and Soviet scientist V. I. Vernadsky [2] [3] [4] . On October 7, 2014, the name of the government was approved by a government decree [5] .
