Movies
In the movie " The Matrix: Reboot, " Persephone appears as Merovingen's wife. She offers Neo's help in exchange for a passionate kiss, as she gives up on her husband. Reluctantly, Neo fulfills her wish, and she helps him to free the Key Masters , while killing Merovingen's vampire servant.
In the movie “ The Matrix: Revolution ”, Persephone warns her husband that Trinity can really kill all visitors to the Hel nightclub for the sake of releasing Neo from the subway simply because of feelings for him.
Persephone is supposedly an “emotion-eating vampire,” like some members of the Merovingen retinue (there are werewolves and vampires among them).
Parallels with Mythology
The name of the character is taken from Greek mythology. In it Persephone is named the daughter of Zeus (Jupiter) and Demeter (Ceres), which the god Hades took to the afterlife . In the trilogy there are hints that Merovingen exists in the Matrix as an analogue of Hades, including the name of his nightclub named after the Scandinavian mistress of the underworld, the chthonic monster Hel ; unhappy life of his wife, suffering from betrayal and boredom. He is also one of the oldest creatures in the Matrix universe, in charge of the movement of intelligent programs between worlds.
