Story
The film shows one day in the life of the small island town of Wilby in Nova Scotia. The action takes place around several characters whose lines are constantly intersecting.
Confused police officer Buddy does not show any zeal in the investigation of the only major criminal case instituted in Wilby over the past few years. Buddy Carol's wife gives herself all to work, not noticing the serious problems long overdue in their marriage.
Sandra, who recently returned to the island, is trying to somehow sort out her tumultuous personal life and establish contact with her 16-year-old daughter Emily. In turn, Emily does not want to repeat the mistakes of her mother’s youth and therefore can not decide on the first sexual experience in her life.
Unclean mayor Fisher hopes to catch a profitable business before the deadline. His daughter Mackenzie hates Wilby and dreams of breaking out to the mainland.
The sad owner of the video store Dan, in the wake of a gay scandal in the city, has been trying to balance his life all day. And the handyman Doug pursuing him, as a guardian angel, always manages to appear at the right time to prevent another thoughtless act of one of the townspeople.
All these people revolve in the cycle of their fears, joys, emotions, hopes and desires. And everyone must, in the end, decide what he really wants from life and which path to follow.
