One of the very few Western films approved for distribution in the USSR in the 1950s and early 1960s. As a result, it gained widest popularity in the USSR, incomparable with rental in Western Europe , where it was soon forgotten. Such a popularity of the film, in which "a bourgeois lifestyle is shown in embellished light", as well as imbued with "unacceptable to us ideas," even became the subject of closed discussion of the Ideological Commission of the CPSU Central Committee based on the results of 1960 [1] .

On the tune of Francois Grete to the song “Wow” from the film, Yuri Vizbor wrote the words for the song “Slalomists”, in which the action was transferred from the Alps to the mountains of the Caucasus [2] .

Story

A robbery occurred in the fictional ski resort of Oberhimmelbrunn in the Alps . The investigation is conducted by a young police officer Florian Thaler ( Tony Sailer ) sent from the center, who, for conspiracy, is presented as a ski enthusiast who has arrived on a two-week vacation. The investigation is difficult, since there are at least a dozen beautiful and young skiers on the path of Florian, whom he is more interested in than crime itself. However, there hasn’t been a crime yet: the local police officer stole the theft to prevent the police station in Oberhimmelbrunn from closing down as unnecessary.
