Earlier, Akademika Khariton Street was part of Zapovednaya Street [1] . Most of it was built in the 1970s for the needs of the Ioffe Physicotechnical Institute (Zapovednaya Street, 51).
In 2013, a new section of the street was built - from the turning circle near the Klimov plant (Zapovednaya Street, 57) to Parachute Street. It was built as an “access road to the Klimov plant” [2] . Movement on it was opened in 2014 .
On August 12, 2014, the northern ray of Zapovednaya Street was divided into four streets [3] : Zapovednaya Street (up to Orlovo-Denisovsky Prospect, from 2017 - Zapovednaya Alley ), Orlovo-Denisovsky Prospekt (from Zapovednaya Street to Akademik Khariton Street), Akademika Khariton Street and Street Pilot Parshin . Now Akademika Khariton Street passes most of the Shuvalovsky quarry , then bypasses the territory of the Klimov plant from the north and continues on as Pilotina Parshin Street [4] .
The street is named after the Hero of Socialist Labor , a nuclear physicist Yu. B. Khariton [5] , who worked at the Physicotechnical Institute located on the street. Khariton was the chief designer of the secret bureau, which developed and tested the atomic and hydrogen bombs [6] [7] .
