Life and career

He graduated from Theresian Military Academy , enlisted in the rank of lieutenant in the engineering troops. In 1868 - 1869 he studied at a military school; in 1870 he received the rank of lieutenant and was sent to serve in the General Staff.

Since 1877, he served in the headquarters of the corps in Vienna . Since 1881 - Major, Chief of Staff of the 29th Infantry Division. Since 1887 - Chief of Staff of the 5th Army Corps. On April 27, 1893 he was appointed Inspector General of Engineering Troops. In 1897 he was awarded the rank of Field Marshal Lieutenant . In 1899 he was elevated to hereditary nobility with the addition of the title “von Lauendorf” to the surname.

Since April 9, 1905, he was seconded as a general in the 9th Army Corps (the place of deployment is Josefstadt ). In the same year he received the rank of field master , was appointed a member of the Privy Council.

On October 28, 1906, Julius Lacher von Lauendorf was appointed Minister of the Landweer of Cisleitania. On January 1, 1907, as a result of a parliamentary conflict, he was dismissed and simultaneously elevated to baronial dignity. At the beginning of 1909 he retired and died a few months later.

Lacher was married to Antoinette, nee von Kallenberg ( 1863 - 1944 ).
