Wesan Island is famous for its lighthouses (there are 5 of them). These are the lighthouses: Le Créac'h , Nividic , La Jument , Kéréon and Le Stiff . There is also a lighthouse museum on the island.
The main village is the village of Lampul . The main attractions are the Creach lighthouse ( Le Créac'h ), one of the brightest in the world, as well as the lighthouse on the cape, which symbolizes the entrance to the English Channel .
On June 1, 1794, a major naval battle took place in the Atlantic Ocean between the fleets of Great Britain and France . Despite the fact that the distance to the battle site was approximately 740 km west of the island, it was called the Battle of Wesan , or the Glorious First of June .
The island is also known for being the westernmost point of the metropolitan (without overseas territories) of France.
From the west coast of mainland France, the island can be reached by plane in about 15 minutes or by ship in 2 hours.
