Biography

IN AND. Marchenko was born on April 22, 1951 in the city of Borisov, Minsk Region, Belorussian SSR. He began his career in 1969 as an engineer on the vessels of the Far Eastern Shipping Company. In 1979, he was sent to serve in the internal affairs bodies of the Primorsky Territory. From 1979 to November 1989 he served as an inspector of the political education department of the political department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Primorsky Territory. Then he held the positions of instructor of the juvenile delinquency prevention department of the preventive service department and senior inspector for the search for stolen and stolen vehicles of a special company of a separate traffic police battalion and deputy commander of this battalion.

In 1984 he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Far Eastern State University, in 1996 - Vladivostok branch of the Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

In 1993, Vladimir Ivanovich was promoted to the post of deputy chief of the rapid response special department of the Organized Crime Control Department and executed it until the day of his heroic death.

He led subordinate personnel in the fighting to defend the constitutional order in the Chechen Republic in 1995-1996.

For the courage shown in 1995 By decree of the President of Russia, Vladimir Marchenko was awarded the medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland, 2nd Degree."

On August 20, 1996, during an operation to unblock the Coordination Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and repel an attack by militants on the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic, V.I. Marchenko led the detachment of the SOBR. He skillfully led the maneuver and fire of his subordinates. During the two-hour battle, the militants were driven back, the threat of the environment of the Coordination Center was averted, but the commander himself was mortally wounded.

For exemplary performance of official duty to ensure state security, territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, shown courage, heroism and courage, police lieutenant colonel Marchenko Vladimir Ivanovich, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 608 of June 14, 1997, was awarded (posthumously) the title of Hero of Russia. By order of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation No. 704 of 10/28/1997, his name was forever included in the lists of personnel of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Primorsky Territory.

On August 20, 1999, by the decision of the head of the administration of Vladivostok, Tormoznaya Street in the Pervorechensky district of the city was renamed Marchenko Street.
