Biography
Born July 3, 1914 in Zemun. Serbian by nationality. Before the war, she worked as a doctor at the General State Hospital of the City of Belgrade . She was fond of actively winter sports and even climbed one of the peaks of the Kopaonik mountain range.
In the partisan movement since 1941, as a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia, on instructions from above, she conducted medical courses for partisans. In 1942, after Ivanka Muachevich fled from the prison hospital, she was arrested. She managed to exchange for captive Germans.
After her release, Olga continued to serve in the partisan ranks as the head of the medical team at the 2nd proletarian division of the NOAU.
In the Battle of Sutjeska, she was wounded near Milinklad and on June 20, 1943, died from her wounds.
Olga’s husband was Vladimir Dedier , a writer. In a marriage, a daughter was born Militsa, who became an architect after the war.
On December 19, 1945, by the decree of the Presidium of the Constituent Assembly of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia, Olga Popovich-Dedier was posthumously awarded the Order for Merit to the People of the 1st degree. The name Olga is also a children's hospital in the Zvezdara quarter.
