Butor is a village in the Grigoriopol district of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic . The administrative center of the Butorsky village council , which in addition to the village of Butor also includes the village of India .

Geography
The area of the village is about 4.21 km 2 , the perimeter is 8.44 km. The commune includes the settlements of Butory and India. The village is located at a distance of 15 km from the city of Grigoriopol and 73 km from Chisinau. The first documented mention of the village of Butory is dated 1773.
Population
According to 2000 data, 3,640 people lived in the village of Butory. For 2015 - 2509 people. [3]
History
The first documented mention of the village of Butory is dated 1773. It was founded by Moldovans from the right bank of the Dniester, who left their homes due to exorbitant taxes and settled in the left bank of the Dniester.
In 1775, 554 peasants lived here. By 1820, there were 200 yards in Butory, and in the middle of the century there were already 268 households with 1,491 inhabitants in the village.
In 1870, the first school opened, in which rural children learned to read and write.
In the Soviet period, a collective farm was organized here. Kuibyshev.
An eight-year school, a club with a film installation, a library, an atelier for public services, a post office, a kindergarten, and a shop were opened in the village.
