Isamu Akasaki ( Japanese 赤 崎 勇 , born January 30, 1929 ) is a Japanese scientist, Nobel Prize winner in physics , and a full member of the Japanese Academy of Sciences .

The inventor of bright blue gallium nitride semiconductor LEDs (1989) and subsequently gallium nitride blue LEDs of increased brightness [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] .
