Pseudorthocladius cristagus (lat.) Is a species of diptera insects of the genus Pseudorthocladius of the family of mosquito-bells (Chironomidae) [1] . First described by Norwegian entomologists Elizabeth Stur and Ole A. Seter in 2004 [2] .

Distribution Description
Endemic of Luxembourg [3] , distributed in the north of the country in the Essling area. A typical specimen (male, adult) from the vicinity of the village of Holtstum [2] .
Together with the species Pseudorthocladius pilosipennis Brundin, it differs markedly from other representatives of the genus Pseudorthocladius by the presence of setae on the wing plate. The body length of the male is 3.35-3.41 mm. Wingspan - 1.89-2.02 mm. The body color is brownish-black [2] .
