Born in 1907 in the Belgian Congo. In 1928, at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam, he took 7th place in the saber team championship. At the 1930 International Fencing Championship, he won a bronze medal in the rapier team championship (in 1937, the International Fencing Federation recognized all the previous International Fencing Championships as world championships).

At the 1947 World Cup, he won a silver medal in the saber team championship, and a bronze medal in the foil team championship. At the London Olympics in 1948, he won the bronze medal in the foil team championship, and became the 4th in the saber team championship. At the 1951 World Cup, he won a bronze medal in the saber team championship. In 1952, at the Olympic Games in Helsinki, he took 5th place in the team championships in sabers and foils.
