Biography
The representative of the noble family Ermolov . The only son of Lieutenant General Viktor Alekseevich Ermolov ( 1820 - 1892 ) and Anna Ivanovna (nee Demyanova) (d. 1900 ). The grandson of the famous conqueror of the Caucasus Alexei Petrovich Ermolov ( 1777 - 1861 ).
Got a general education in the 3rd Moscow Cadet Corps . In September 1886 he began military service, graduated from the 3rd Military Alexander School [1] .
On August 7, 1887, V. V. Ermolov was promoted to second lieutenant in the 11th Grenadier Fanagori Regiment , from where he was transferred at the rank of cornet to the 1st Lancers of St. Petersburg Regiment [1] .
On August 7, 1891 he received the rank of lieutenant , and on March 15, 1895 he was promoted to headquarters captain [1] .
In 1899 - 1905, he was an assistant to the senior adjutant to the cavalry inspector general [1] .
May 6, 1900 received the rank of captain , in August 9, 1900 for the difference became the captain of the guard , then was renamed lieutenant colonel [1] .
June 19 - June 22, 1905 - senior adjutant to the headquarters of the inspector general of cavalry, June 22, 1905 - May 15, 1906 - senior clerk of the Council of State Defense [1] .
On December 6, 1905, Vladimir Ermolov was promoted to colonel for the difference in service.
from May 15, 1906 to April 8, 1909 - head of the department of the Main Directorate of the General Staff [1] .
Since April 8, 1909, he was the head of the office of the Office for the Repair of the Army [1] .
On December 6, 1911, V.V. Ermolov received the rank of Major General for the difference in service.
Member of the First World War (1914-1918) . From May 25, 1915 - the duty general of the 13th army , and from October 5, 1915 - the duty general of the 12th army .
July 10, 1916 V.V. Ermolov was in the same rank and position, then in 1917 he was promoted to lieutenant general [1] .
Since December 28, 1916 - the military governor of the Dagestan region [1] .
A participant in the White Movement in southern Russia ( VSYUR ), served under the Ministry of the Interior, in the summer of 1919 he was the Saratov governor, despite the fact that Saratov was not taken by whites [1] .
In March 1920, Vladimir Ermolov was evacuated from Novorossiysk to Thessaloniki ( Greece ) on the Hannover vessel, then on the Habsburg steamship he moved to Vranska Banya ( Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ) [1] .
Later, Vladimir Ermolov moved to France [1] , where he lived until the end of his life.
September 14, 1945 V.V. Ermolov died in Paris , was buried in the cemetery of Saint-Genevieve-des-Bois .
