Nichia

Nichia Corporation ( Jap. 日 亜 化学 工業 ити Nichia kagaku ko: gyo: kabushikigai ) is a Japanese chemical engineering and manufacturing company controlled from Tokushima , with divisions in various countries. Specializes in the production of phosphors, LEDs ( Division 2 ), laser diodes, materials for lithium batteries and calcium chloride [1] .

History

Nichia Corporation was founded in 1956 by Nobuo Ogawa (小 信 信 雄, 1912-2002) in Anan ( Tokushima ) for the production of ultrapure chemical products - calcium salts. In 1966, the production of inorganic phosphors began .

In 1993, the company created an inexpensive and efficient blue LED (with the participation of Shuji Nakamura ). In 1996, Nichia created a white LED ( Shuji Nakamura ).

The company now has six factories in Japan; European units are located in the Netherlands, Germany, Russia (Moscow) [5] .
