Born in 1902 in Brussels . In 1928, at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam, he became 4th in the team championship on swords. At the International Fencing Championship in 1930, he won a gold medal in the team championship on swords.

In 1937, the International Fencing Federation recognized all previously held International Fencing Championships as world championships.
