Biography

He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Oriental Studies (1954), MGIMO, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR (1961), and continuing education courses at the Higher Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR (1974). He was fluent in Persian , Dari and English .

In 1958 - 1964 - referent-translator in a group of military specialists in Afghanistan .

In 1964 - 1968 - referent, head of the department of Asia and Africa in the Office of Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR.

Since 1968 - Representative of the Union of Soviet Friendship Societies (SSOD) at the Embassy of the USSR in Afghanistan.

In 1974 - 1979 he was the first secretary of the Embassy of the USSR in Afghanistan.

In 1979 - 1981 - the first secretary of the Department of the Middle East of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1981 - 1985 - Advisor, Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of the USSR in Afghanistan.

In 1985 - 1990 - expert, head of the sector department of the Middle East of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1990 - 1992 - adviser-envoy of the Embassy of the USSR in Afghanistan.

In 1992 - 1993, he was a senior adviser to the Department of Western and South Asia at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 1993 - 1999 - Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From August 6, 1999 to September 24, 2004 - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Eritrea [1] [2] .

Since November 2001 - Ambassador on Special Assignments, special representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia in Afghanistan.
