This is one of the earliest films about Sherlock Holmes . Starring theater actor , who became famous for embodying the image of the famous detective on the stage. This is Gillett's only appearance on the movie screen. The plot of the film was based on the stories of Arthur Conan Doyle “ The Scandal in Bohemia ”, “ The Last Case of Holmes ”, “ Copper Beeches ”, as well as the story “ Etude in Crimson Tones ”. The film is an adaptation .

Movie Detection

The film has long been considered lost. On October 1, 2014, the San Francisco Silent Film Festival and the French Cinematheque reported that seven reels of film with a 90-minute copy of the film were discovered in the 2014 French Cinematheque Archive. The film will be restored and shown in January 2015 at the Toute la Mémoire du Monde restored film festival, then in May 2015 it will be shown at the Silent Film Festival in San Francisco [1] .
