Zarvinos

Zyarvinos ( lit. Zervynos ) is a village in southern Lithuania , Alytus county , Varensky district , 8 km north-east of Marcinkonis, 16 km south-west of Varen .

Zarvinos

Zyarvinos is located on the banks of the Ula River and its tributary Povilnis, is surrounded on all sides by the Dinavas Forest and is included in the territory of the Dzukij National Park .

Zyarvinos - an architectural monument of national importance, consists of 48 estates, of which 8 were ethnographic. Currently, there are 11 protected estates with 35 buildings recognized as monuments of the late XVIII - early XX centuries.

Traditional wooden architecture and the general plan, formed in the XVIII century, have been preserved. There are also large wooden crosses, pine trees with hollows (previously used for beekeeping ), a cemetery, a place of the Neolithic site [1] .

The Vilnius-Marcinkonis railway passes through the village (the former part of the St. Petersburg-Baltic-Warsaw-Vskhodnya line, torn after the dismantling of the Marcinkonis - Uzberezh section), which runs the Vilnius-Marcinkonis suburban diesel train .

History

The village has been mentioned since 1742 . In 1869 there were 17 estates. In the period between the First and Second World Wars, the place was located on the territory of first Middle Lithuania ( 1920 - 1922 ), then Poland . In Soviet times, a primary school operated in the village. The writer Juozas Aputis lived and worked here. The films “Nobody wanted to die” ( 1965 ) and “ Fact ” ( 1981 ) were shot in the village. Population

In 1798 there were 104 inhabitants, in 1858 - 133, in 1921 - 235. According to the 1959 census , there were 190 people in the village, in 186 - 186 people, in 1989 - 103, in 2011, the population was 47 people , in 2013 - 50 inhabitants. [2]
