Biography

Born in Livonia in a noble family. Lutheran religion.

In 1768-1772 he studied at Moscow University . Since April 22, 1772 “for jealousy and diligence in the service” was transferred by the translator to the Audit College.

In July 1777 he received the rank of college secretary and was seconded "to director's affairs."

In March 1778, by decree of Catherine II , Vladimirsky was formed, in 1779 - Tambov , and in 1780 - Penza governorship . The first Vladimir, Penza and Tambov governor and governor-general was R.I. Vorontsov . In 1778, Berg was appointed adjutant to R.I. Vorontsov and at the same time served as the ruler of the chancellery at the establishment of these provinces. Removing him from the capital and transferring him to Vladimir is probably connected with the fact that he came under investigation on charges of registry, although Berg's guilt was not proved.

Mason , a founding member and since 1778, the master of the chair of the box in Vladimir, which was part of the Masonic Union under the leadership of IP Elagin [1] .


In September 1780 he was appointed to the Vladimir Civil Chamber, where he enjoyed the patronage of R.I. Vorontsov, and from May 2, 1791, he was chairman of the Civil Chamber. In addition, he was the chief commissioner of the Commission on the delimitation of the Vladimir and neighboring provinces, conducted an investigation on the abuse of officials in recruitment .

May 17, 1798 promoted to state councilors .

In 1802 he was appointed vice-governor of the Lithuanian-Grodno ( Grodno ) province.

In 1804 - the governor of Yekaterinoslav , with the production of active state councilors.

In 1808 - the civil governor of Podolsk province .

From 1809 to 1812 he was a Mogilev civil governor.

Creative activity

He is the author of two poetic odes: “To His Imperial Majesty Alexander I on the occasion of the newly published Supreme Gracious Manifestos” (1801) and “Feelings of the Russian during the coronation of Emperor Alexander I” (1801).
