Born in 1888 in Antwerp . In 1912 he took part in the Olympic Games in Stockholm , but did not achieve any medals: he took 5th place in the team championship in saber and individual championship in rapiers, and 7th in the individual championship in swords. In 1920, he won a silver medal in the team championship on swords at the Olympic Games in Antwerp . In 1922 he won a bronze medal in the individual saber championship at the International Fencing Championship. In 1924 he took part in the Olympic Games in Paris , where he again won the silver medal in the team championship on swords. In 1926, at the International Fencing Championship, he won a bronze medal in the individual sword championship. In 1928, at the Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, he became 4th in both individual and team championships on swords, and at the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz he took part in bobsled competitions (fours), where he took 6th place . At the 1930s International Fencing Championships, Leon Tom won the gold medal in the swords team championship.
In 1937, the International Fencing Federation recognized all previously held International Fencing Championships as world championships.
There is no information about the future life of Leon Tom; all that is known is that he eventually moved to New York .
