Speck anchor (Shpeksniydera Anchor) - a kind of dead ship anchor , is a modification of the Hall anchor . Designed in 1950 by the Dutch engineer Speksnijder.

Design and Function

The shortcomings of the Hall anchor forced engineers to make various changes to its design. For example, the center of gravity of the head part of the Hall anchor is located rather high relative to the axis of its rotation , closer to the ends of the legs, which often complicates the normal entry of the anchor into the clus (the legs thrown to the side abut against the hull of the vessel). As a result, it is necessary to etch the anchor until it comes out of the water with its legs folded outward.

At the Shpeksniyder anchor, the center of gravity of the warhead is moved to the axis of its rotation . When the legs of the anchor touch the hull of the vessel when lifting, its balanced head is rotated and the legs are retracted from the side. The peck anchor box ends with a base plate, which is located further from the axis of rotation than the shovel-like tides on the Hall anchor box. This plate unfolds its paws well so that the anchor picks up. At the same time, this form of the box is more streamlined and the anchor is able to go deeper into the ground, which, together with long paws, significantly increases its holding power. Two guides in the form of stiffening ribs pass from the ends of the peck anchor paws to the base plate of the box. They contribute to a denser landing of the anchor in the clus, exclude the possibility of jamming it and increase the strength of the head and paws.

Comparative tests carried out in Holland showed the advantages of a speck anchor compared to the usual Hall anchor both in terms of the convenience of putting it on a ship and in the amount of holding force.
