The historicity of Jesus

I understood, having studied many previous studies on the issue of [Jesus], that almost every story in the Gospels and Acts may seem like a very likely Christian correspondence of material from the Septuagint , Homer , the Bacchanus of Euripides and Josephus Flavius . ... In this case, the literary origin should always be preferable to historical. And this is the choice that we must make in almost every case of the New Testament narrative. I refer the interested reader to my essay, “The New Testament Story as a Midrash of the Old Testament,” in the “Midrash Encyclopedia” (edited by Jacob Neusner and Alan Avery-Peck). Of course, here I am dependent on many of the excellent works of Randel Helms , Thomas L. Brodie , John Dominic Crossan and others. None of them went as far as me. As soon as I calculated the stories of the Gospel, which each of the scholars convincingly deduced from the literary prototype, it became clear to me that practically nothing remained. No one tried to prove the fictitious nature of the whole tradition, and each of them suggested some cases that I found arbitrary and implausible. However, their work, when they were united, testified in favor of the fully fictitious story of Jesus. [...] Perhaps there was once a historical Jesus, but for us he is no more. If he existed, he was forever lost behind the stained glass of a sacred myth. At least this is the current state of evidence as I see it. [five]

G.F. Lovecraft's Creative Studies

As a publisher of the Crypt of Cthulhu magazine [6] (published by the Necronomicon Press in ) and the Cthulhu mythology anthology series [7] [8] [9] , Robert Price has been a symbolic personality for many years in studies of G. F. Lovecraft's work and fandoms dedicated to him. [ten]

In his religious studies, Price points to Gnostic roots in the image of the Lovecraftian deity Azathoth [11] and interprets The Shadow over Innsmouth as a ritual of initiation . [12]

Many of the early books on Cthulhu published by Chaosium were an anthologies compiled by Price. [13]
