| Video of the main competitions at the European Championship 2014 | |
The main competitions in women's long jump were held on August 13, 2014. Their implementation was complicated by a strong headwind, cold weather and the rain that passed shortly before the start. However, even these difficult conditions did not prevent the Frenchwoman Eloise Lezuyer from showing a worthy attempt at 6.85 meters and defending her European Champion title, obtained two years earlier in Helsinki . Ivan Shpanovich from Serbia lost quite a bit to her with the best jump of 6.81 m (once again she was close to this mark - 6.80 m). For a long time, the representative of Germany, Melanie Bauschke , was in third place, but closer to the end of the competition it turned out that when measuring her first attempt, the electronics failed and erroneously recorded the result of 6.79 m. After the correction made by the judges, it was corrected to 6.55 m, and the German woman sank to sixth place [3] . The bronze was won by the 2013 European champion in the room, Russian Daria Klishina with a relatively short jump for herself at 6.65 m [4] .
