Johann Michael Söltl ( German: Johann Michael von Söltl ; April 19, 1797 - March 14, 1888 ) is a German historian , professor at the University of Munich .

Biography
Johann Michael Söltl was born on April 19, 1797 in the Bavarian town of Neunburg-form-Wald .
Already in 1819 his "Poetische Versuche" appeared; then followed by “Heinrich VI, Kaiser und König der Deutschen” ( 1825 ), “C. J. Cäsar ”( 1826 ) and other historical works. The statement of the Archbishop of Munich that Zeltl does not write in the spirit of the Catholic Church forced him to temporarily stop his lectures. Other works by Seltl: Der Religionskrieg in Deutschland ( 1842 ), Vorträge über Beredsamkeit ( 1869 ), Aesthetik ( 1872 ), Konradin, ein Balladencyklus ( 1848 ), Dichtungen ( 1855 ), Gustav- Adolf ”( 1883 ),“ Der Untersberg ”(a collection of real and fictional legends about Frederick Barbarossa , King Max I, about old Fritz, etc.).
As director of the Bavarian State Archives , in 1886 Seltl published an interesting collection of letters: “Ludwig I, König v. Baiern, und Graf v. Armensperg. "
Johann Michael Söltl died on March 14, 1888 in the city of Munich .
