Biography
Vladimir Nikolaev was born on February 1, 1871 in Zadonsk . He graduated from high school in Voronezh , then in 1895 - medical faculty of Kazan University . Since his student days he was engaged in scientific work, published his first article in 1893 [1] .
After graduating from the university, Nikolayev worked as a laboratory assistant at the department of pharmacology at Kazan University, then he became a assistant professor and head of pharmacological and pharmaceutical laboratories there. From 1907 he headed the department of falmacognosy and pharmacy, and from August 1915 he was an extraordinary professor in the same department. He was actively engaged in social activities, was the scientific secretary of the Kazan Society of Neuropathologists, a member of the Kazan Society of Doctors, the founder and head of the Kazan Scientific Society of Pharmacists [1] .
From December 1921, Nikolayev lived in Moscow, taught at the Medical Faculty of Moscow State University, and after transformation at the 1st Medical Institute. I. Sechenov , moreover, was the organizer of the departments of pharmacology in a number of other universities of the USSR. From 1945 he also headed the pharmacological department of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Medicinal Plants. He was the author of more than 350 scientific articles. Under his leadership more than 20 theses have been defended. He discovered the two-neuron path of impulse transmission from the heart, laid the foundations for a new direction of pharmacology - biopharmacy . For merits in scientific work he was awarded the title of Honored Scientist of the RSFSR [1] .
He died on February 4, 1950 [1] , was buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery of Moscow .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (10/30/1945) and a number of medals [1] .
