Biography
Marcelina Praxeda of Kochanska was born on February 18, 1858 in Vishnevchik.
She studied at the Lviv , and then at the Vienna Conservatoire, playing the violin (including with Joseph Helmesberger Sr. ) and the piano (including with Julius Epstein ). Finally, in 1876, she decided to focus on vocal education and went to Milan to the famous teacher Giovanni Battista Lamperti (later she took lessons from his even more famous father Francesco Lamperti ).
She performed on stage for the first time in 1877. In 1879 she received an engagement at the Dresden Opera, where she began to sing under the maiden name of her mother, in St. Petersburg and Moscow, Zembrich sang since 1880, with great success, for three seasons; then she sang in London , in America , in Paris .
Since 1889, Zembrich sang several times on private Italian opera stages in St. Petersburg . Her repertoire consisted of 27 operas, Italian, French and German. She was widely known, Zembrich's voice was distinguished by a large range, rare expressiveness, and singing - by the beauty of sound, musicality and brilliance.
Leaving the scene, since 1924 she taught at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and at the Juilliard School in New York .
Marcella Zembrich died on January 11, 1935 in the city of New York.
