Steamer description
The ship with an iron hull, the length of the vessel was 54.86 meters [comm. 1] , width - 9.14 meters [comm. 2] . A steam engine of 160 nominal horsepower was installed on the steamer. The arms of the ship in peacetime consisted of six 6-pounder and two 1-pounder guns, and in wartime it changed to two 60-pound cannons No. 1 and four 24-pound cannon-carronades [1] [2] .
Service history
The steamer Astrakhan was founded in 1856 at the Nizhny Novgorod Machine Factory and after launching in the same year it became part of the Caspian Flotilla of Russia . The construction was conducted by the shipmaster Lt. Col. MM Okunev [1] [3] .
In 1857, under the command of Captain 2nd RankMP Komarovsky from the Nizhny Novgorod Machine Factory the steamer was carried along the Volga to Astrakhan [4] .
On February 10 ( 22 ), 1890 , the steamship Astrakhan was excluded from the lists of ships of the Caspian Flotilla [1] .
