Description of the ship
A ship with an iron hull, the length of the vessel was 54.86 meters [comm. 1] , and the width with skin is 9.14 meters [comm. 2] . A steam engine with a capacity of 160 rated horsepower was installed on the ship. The armament of the ship in peacetime consisted of six 6-pound and two 1-pound guns, and in wartime it was changed to two 60-pound guns No. 1 and four 24-pound gun-carronades [1] [2] .
Service History
The Derbent steamboat was laid in 1856 at the Nizhny Novgorod Machine Factory and, after launching in 1857, became part of the Caspian Flotilla of Russia . The construction was carried out by the ship foreman Lt. Col. M. M. Okunev [1] [3] .
From 1859 to 1861 he took part in the inventory and measurements of the Caspian Sea, while the commander of the ship in 1860 was awarded the Order of St. Stanislav II degree . In 1863 he sailed between the ports of the Caspian Sea. From 1864 to 1866 he again took part in hydrographic work in the Caspian Sea, and the ship's commander was granted the Persian Order of Leo and the Sun of the II degree with a star [4] .
On December 18 ( 30 ), 1876 , the Derbent steamer was excluded from the list of vessels of the Caspian flotilla [1] .

- captain-lieutenant , from January 1 ( 13 ), 1862 , captain of the 2nd rank , and from March 27 ( April 8 ), 1866 captain of the 1st rank N. T. Efimov (1859-1866) [4] ;
