Biography

Pupil of Genning and Negera at the Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts (now Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig ). Improved engraving under the guidance of Steinl in Dresden . He traveled in 1851 and 1853 in Germany and Austria , visited Paris and Belgium , after which he lived and worked in Dresden .
His works are distinguished by the certainty of the incisor and the grace of the stroke; Of these, the most noteworthy ones are: “Judith with the Head of Holofernes” by Philip Feith [1] , “Madonna with Carnations” by Raphael , Dresden's Madonna Murillo , “Three Sisters” , also from the Dresden picture of Palma the Elder , and several portraits of German poets.
