Biography

Born in Samara in September 1890. His father, Alexander Bernhardovich, was the son of Perm Governor Bernhard Vasilievich Struve .

Mikhail Struve graduated from the 6th St. Petersburg Gymnasium (1909; silver medal) and St. Petersburg University .

He began to publish his works in 1906. He was close to acmeists ; Nikolai Gumilyov , whom he met in 1915, considered his teacher and senior friend. In 1916, in Petrograd, M. A. Struve published a book of poetry, The Flock. In a review on April 25, Julius Eichenwald called the verses “dry and pale,” noting that “few of these few are distinguished by an interesting pallor.” After some time, Nikolai Gumilyov’s review appeared in the “Vedomosti Vedomosti”: “Here are verses from a good school. Reading them, you forget that M. Struve is a young poet and that “The Pack” is his first book. Confidence in speech, clarity of images and harmony of composition make him take his verses without reservation. ”

M. A. Struve was a member of the literary circle “Marseilles Sailors” by Mikhail Kuzmin (1917), participated in the collections “Almanac of Muses” (1916) and “Thirteen Poets” (1917).

Since 1920 - in exile, he lived in Paris, became one of the initiators of the creation of the Paris " Poetry Shop ". He consistently consisted in various literary associations: in 1922 he entered the Gatarapak society, was a member of the Chamber of Poets ; since 1923 he was a member of the “ Through ” association; since 1925 was a member of the Union of Young Poets and Writers; in 1929-1930 he was a member of the Nomad Association. He took part in the literary and artistic evenings of the Turgenev Artistic Society ; was a member of the Paris Union of Russian writers and journalists ; He was a member of the Partnership of the United Russian Publishers, where he repeatedly made reports. Since 1929 he was a member of the Russian Masonic lodge " Northern Lights " ( Grand Lodge of France ), in Paris.

He was published in many Russian emigrant magazines and newspapers: Illustrated Russia, Russian Thought, Versts, Will of Russia, Renaissance, Days, Russian Notes and others, in the newspaper " Latest News " . A participant in the "Russian Collection" prepared by B. Panteleimonov (1946). However, he never released a new book of poems in exile, although he had such plans. Only in 2006, a number of his poems were published in the anthology "Petersburg in the poetry of the Russian emigration (first and second wave)."

Since 1942 he was a member of the French Resistance movement ; after the war he was close to the movement of Soviet patriots, spoke at the literary evenings of the "Union of Russian Patriots" with his poems. Collaborated in the newspapers "Russian News", "Soviet Patriot".

He was buried in the cemetery of Saint-Genevieve-des-Bois .
