Speed

Speed (Hangul: 스피드; also spelled SPEED) is a male idol group from MBK Entertainment . Speed ​​consists of 6 guys: Ki-O, Juhwan, Taeha, Jonkuk, Sejun, Songmin. Initially, Speed ​​was conceived as a subgroup formed from the guys of the Co-Ed School mix group. It included Yuson (Chonu), Taeung, Joncuk, Nuri, Kwanen, Sonmin. Nevertheless, Speed ​​debuted in 2013 as an independent group. In 2015, Taun left the group. Instead, Ki-O came. In 2016, the group left Chong.

Group History

2010–2011: Co-Ed School and Sub-

Co-Ed School debuted on September 30, 2010 with the single "Too Late." On October 28, 2010, their mini-album Something That Is Cheerful and Fresh was released.

In 2011, Core Contents Media announced that the group would split into two subgroups. The female half of the group: Sumi, Changmi, Hyoyeon and Hewon, as well as a new member of Eunkyo formed the group 5dolls . After the debut of 5dolls , and then their comeback in the same year, the debut of the male half of Co-Ed School was announced.

November 4, 2011 Kano left the group and focused on his acting career. Superstar K3 member Shin Jonkook took his place, and the debut of the men's subgroup was scheduled for early 2012.

2012: 'Lovey Dovey Plus' and Lineup Changes

In early January, the name of the group was approved - Speed. There was also information that the group will release the digital single “Lovey Dovey-Plus” as a “tribute” to the hit T-ara 'Lovey Dovey'. T-ara member Ryu Hwaion and her twin sister Ryu Höyön from 5dolls starred in the video for this song. Speed's promotion with this single lasted two weeks.

In February, Core Contents Media decided to add Pak Sejun to Speed. After that, Core Contents Media transferred Speed ​​and 5dolls to their GM Contents Media affiliate. In September, Kwanen and Nuri left the group. In their place in October came O Songjon (Tekha) and Kim Yuhwan. A little later, Speed ​​returned to the main label Core Contents Media .

2013: 'Superior Speed', 'Blow Speed', concert in Mongolia

At the end of December 2012, official information finally appeared on the debut of the band with the single “It's Over”. On January 6, the release of clips for the song “That's My Fault,” recorded with Davichi's Kang Minkyung, took place . The track is part of the digital single “Speed ​​of Light”. Pak Boyen starred in the dance version of the video, Pak Boyen, A Pink Nayn of A Pink , Ji Chanuk and Ha Sokjin starred in the drama version. The band’s debut album, Superior SPEED, was released on January 14, as well as two clips for the album’s title track “It's Over. The drama version of the clip is a continuation of the drama version of“ That's My Fault. ”The song was produced by Shinsadong Tiger and Park Boyon.

After the promotion with 'It's Over' Speed, they released a re-release of their debut album - “Blow Speed”. The release took place on February 20, the reissue was released only in digital format. Speed ​​continued the promotion with the title track 'Pain'.

In September, Speed ​​together with other Core Contents Media artists performed a showcase in Mongolia. In October, Taun and Sejong flew to Los Angeles to take production lessons with American r'n'b star Ray J.

2014: Concert in Cambodia, Korean mini-concert, 'Speed ​​Circus', 'Look At Me Now', the first Japanese fanning

February 12, Speed ​​performed at UNIQOL AX Hall with the presentation of their new mini-album 'Speed ​​Circus'. The group performed thirteen songs, and they had guest stars: Shannon, Dani from T-ara N4 and Havon from F-ve Dolls , who sang two songs during the break. The showcase was broadcast on February 17 via SBS MTV.

On February 14, Speed ​​and T-ara performed in Cambodia with a "Boys Meet Girls" concert dedicated to Valentine's Day.

February 18, the group released a mini-album 'Speed ​​Circus', which in total consists of 5 songs. The album mixed several different genres in order to show the talents of all seven members. For the most part, songwriter, songwriter and album were produced by leader Taun, and the group also took part in the choreography. The title track "늘리 러 간다 (Don't Tease Me!)" Is completely connected with the concept of the circus. The video for “Don't Tease Me!” Was shot on a showcase, showing a group in a variety of circus costumes. The climax of the song includes several impressive tricks performed by the participants. One of the songs called “왜 난 꼭 (Why I'm Not?)” Is a hip hop ballad. The combination of a medium-tempo ballad and a strong text created a new song that is different from previous SPEED songs, it shows the growth of musical abilities of guys. The clip was directed by Cha Eun Taek and he shot it in one continuous shoot. The mini-album includes the song “Focus”, Taun’s solo rap. The video was mainly shot in Los Angeles and was released on February 17th as a teaser for the mini-album. The final song in the mini-album “Hey Ma Lady” continues the theme of the circus with more optimistic and flirty notes. In addition, the vocal version of “Don't Tease Me!” Is included in the mini-album.

April 3, Speed ​​released a re-release of their mini-album, which was called 'Look At Me Now'. On the same day, a video was released for the track of the same name. The album’s reissue included the song “Zombie Party”, which was filmed with a zombie concept video, and Shannon starred in the video.

On August 3, Speed ​​hosted its first fanning in Japan, which paved the way for the band's future overseas activities.

October 1, it became known that the director of the agency Core Contents Media leaves his post, and all the artists of the company are transferred to the management of the new agency MBK Entertainment .

2015: Composition Changes

On March 25, it became known that SPEED leader Taun was leaving the band for a solo hip-hop career.

On April 20, it was announced that Juhwan was the new leader of the group.
