Biography
Rafael Mkrtychevich Baghdasaryan was born in Yerevan on February 10, 1930 . The year before his birth, the Raphael family moved from Oktemberian to Yerevan, in a two-story wooden house on Alaverdyan, 82. From a young age, Raphael was inspired by “thieves in law”: Handsome Felo , Papsho , Camo Chisty, Goga Unzhlagsky, Bobo, Kosto, Coco, Jojo who fought with each other for control of the city. Rafael met Jojo - a man whose authority in those troubled years was great. Father often beat Raphael to grow up as an obedient son; at the age of fifteen, Rafael ran away from home, and then left Yerevan and subsequently settled in Moscow [3] .
In 1945 he was crowned a thief in law (at age 14).
At eleven years old he committed the first theft. From 1944 to 1984, he was repeatedly prosecuted for theft , robbery (including under the guise of a police officer), malicious hooliganism , illegal possession of narcotic substances. Baghdasaryan had a total of 15 previous convictions; he served the full term. The total prison experience is 34 years [4] . In camps and prisons, Raphael systematically violated the regime, refused to work. He attacked officials and tried unsuccessfully to escape. According to him, during his life he did not give a single testimony, did not sign a single protocol.
Recently, Baghdasaryan broke all relations with Chechens in Moscow, considering them uncontrollable [5] .
In the 1990s, Baghdasaryan repeatedly helped Armenia - with food, clothing and weapons, to the defenders of Armenia and Artsakh.
The last time Baghdasaryan was arrested on December 23, 1992 in the room of the Minsk Hotel Minsk. Instead of Butyrka prison, he was placed in the detention center of the Ministry of Security in Lefortovo .
Death
On June 13, German police officers who came to interrogate Baghdasaryan about several killings on their territory did not see him. On June 18, Baghdasaryan began defecating with blood. He was taken to the hospital and operated on in haste. On June 23, at 11 hours and 10 minutes in a special (thieves') department of a Moscow hospital, Baghdasaryan passed away without regaining consciousness.
Baghdasaryan was buried on June 27, 1993. For besieged Yerevan, the time from June 25 to 27 was marked by a three-day round-the-clock power supply [6] .

Rafael was married to Natasha Palasyan, who has a daughter from him.
