The song was recorded on July 11, 1955 at Sun Studios at Sun Records . On August 20 (along with the song " Mystery Train ") it was released as a single. In December 1955, the single was re-released by RCA Victor .
On February 25, 1956, the song reached the first line of the Hot Country Songs chart in the categories Billboard C&W Best Sellers in Stores (where it spent two weeks in the first position) and Billboard C&W Most Played in Juke Boxes (where it spent five weeks in the first position) [5] [6 ] ] [7] . In total, the country spent 39 weeks on country charts [8] .

- The Beatles recorded this song on May 1, 1964 for the radio show “From Us to You” on the BBC (the show was broadcast on May 18); The vocal part was performed by George Harrison . This record was officially published in 1994 on the compilation album Live at the BBC [9] .
