Church of the Assumption
Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Asklipio (Θεοτόκου στο Ασκληπιείο Ρόδου) is a temple in the village of Asklipio on the island of Rhodes . The building was built in the XIV century, probably on the site of an older church, and is a small cross-domed structure. On the western side, on two sides of the central nave, annexes with rib arches are attached. The central nave and the dome space are decorated with well-preserved mural paintings, created (on top of the older ones) in 1676-1677 by Michael from Chios . The rarity of the paintings is a detailed narration from the books of Genesis and the Apocalypse .
