He was the head of the Technical Artillery School, a member of the Russian Geographical Society , as well as a member of the Society for the Care of Poor Children of Artillery Officers and the Society for the Charity of Crippled Minors.

Biography
Born on October 1, 1848 in an Orthodox family in the village of Salovka, Lubensky district, Poltava province.
When the time came to study, the mother decided, following family tradition, to identify her son in the Naval Cadet Corps, since there were many naval officers among the ancestors of the Ogranovichi. But when the deadline came and it was necessary to go to Petersburg, the mother felt sorry for her son and assigned him to the Petrovsky Poltava Cadet Corps.
He graduated from the cadet corps [1] in 1866, then - Mikhailovsky School (1869) and the Academy (1875), from where he was released into the 2nd equestrian artillery brigade. From December 14, 1876 he served at the Cartridge Plant.
He subsequently received the ranks: Second Lieutenant (12.7.1869), Lieutenant (31.10.1871), Staff Captain (11.26.1874), Captain (30.8.1881), Colonel (1.4.1890), Major General (1900).
March 29, 1909, being the head of the Petersburg Tube Plant and an advisory member of the Artillery Committee of the Main Artillery Directorate, Mikhail Ogranovich was promoted to lieutenant general .
May 10, 1911 due to illness, he was dismissed from service with a uniform and pension. The latest military data about Ogranovich belong to the βList of Seniority Generals,β compiled on July 1, 1910 (p. 333).
Mikhail Alexandrovich died on January 27, 1912 in St. Petersburg, was buried in the Volkovsky Orthodox cemetery. During the redevelopment of the cemetery in the 1950s, his grave was destroyed.
