Biography
Viktor Yakovlev was born on October 18 ( October 30 ), 1871 in Moscow . He graduated from the 2nd Moscow Cadet Corps and Nicholas Engineering School . In the Russian Imperial Army since September 1889 . In 1900, Yakovlev on the first category graduated from the Nikolaev Academy of Engineering , after which he was in her teaching work. December 6, 1916 he was awarded the rank of Major General [1] .
After the October Revolution, Yakovlev went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He taught at the Military Engineering Academy of the Red Army . He led a large scientific work, was the chief editor of "Engineering Journal." In the 1920s he taught fortification, was the head teacher of the Petrograd military engineering school [2] .
In the 1930s, Yakovlev headed the fortification department of the Military Engineering Academy of the Red Army. On January 27, 1943, Yakovlev was given the rank of Major General of the Engineering Troops, and on November 2, 1944, Lieutenant General of the Engineering Troops.
He died on September 7, 1945 . He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy Cemetery [2] .
He was the author of more than 150 scientific papers in the field of fortification and military engineering. In his works, he studied the military engineering experience of the Russian and Soviet armies in the wars of the first half of the 20th century.
