History
The first settlement of white Americans was founded on this territory in 1859. The name "Lincoln" was given in honor of Charles Lincoln Wilson, one of the organizers and construction managers of the California Central Railroad. At the time of construction of the nearby railway section, the town experienced short-term population growth, but soon fell into decline until the early 1870s, when rich clay deposits were discovered next to it. Until the mid-1990s, however, Lincoln remained a small community, after which its population growth went at a tremendous pace. In 2004, a casino was opened here.
