Kakoshkin, Gennady Ivanovich

Gennady Ivanovich Kakoshkin (born October 28, 1937 , Pskov ) is a Soviet lightweight boxer, three-time champion of the USSR, coach, judge, master of sports.

Biography

At the age of four in the summer of 1941, Gennady Kakoshkin became a prisoner of a concentration camp in Alytus (Lithuania). In 1944, after the liberation of Lithuania, the Kakoshkin family remained to live in Kaunas .

He started boxing in 1952 with coach A. Rachunas. Since 1957, he played for the Armed Forces, Leningrad, coach V. Krutov.

He graduated from the Institute of Physical Culture and the Higher School of Trainers at the Military Institute of Physical Culture.

Honorary MC (1964), judge VK (1975), judge MK EABA (1988). Being the strongest boxer of the USSR for several years, he twice represented the country at the European Championships and both times, unfortunately, failed to break into the medal. In the future, it was not called for responsible international tournaments. Because of this, he did not participate in two Olympic games, although he convincingly won the USSR championship in 1960 and 1964!

I stood in tandem with Kakoshkin for all three years of military service - we were in the same weight category - 60 kg. Gennady Ivanovich was a very soft, sensitive boxer, he did not have an accented hard blow, and yet he won the Union championship four times ... At the 1959 European Championships in Lucerne, he was recognized as the most elegant boxer by the press. Sporting Achievements

  • Prizewinner and winner of the Lithuanian championships of 1955 and 1956.
  • USSR champion 1959, 1960, 1961, 1964 in the weight of 60 kg.
  • Winner of the II Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR of 1959.

Officially held 335 battles, 302 victories, including 28 battles (21 victories) in international meetings. According to Kakoshkin himself, he did not have enough two fights to four hundred fights. Consequently, 398 fights were held. He defeated the Olympic champion, the winner of the Vel Barker Cup, Scottish Richard McTaggart ( Great Britain ), Olympic champions Jan Shchepansky , Jozef Grudzen (both Poland ).
