Biography
Arkhip Kolpakov was born on February 18, 1892 in the village of Omar (now the Mamadysh district of Tatarstan ) [1] . In 1913, he was called up for service in the royal fleet. He began his service as a sailor in minesweepers. He graduated from the radio telegraph courses of the Mining Squad, after which he served as a radio telegrapher in the Baltic Fleet [2] .
In 1919, Kolpakov went to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He participated in the battles of the Civil War on the Eastern Front . After graduation, he continued to serve in various military ports of the USSR. In 1929, Kolpakov graduated from advanced training courses for senior and commanding personnel, in 1935 - a special course at the Naval Academy [2] .
In 1934 - 1937, the 1st rank quartermaster Kolpakov led the Kronstadt Marine Shipyard . On February 25, 1938 he was arrested on charges of sabotage and participation in an anti-Soviet military conspiracy, but on August 13, 1939 the case against him was dismissed due to insufficient evidence [1] . After his release, he worked at the Central Naval Museum . From September 1940 until the outbreak of World War II, he commanded the Kronstadt seaport [2] .
During the Great Patriotic War, Kolpakov served as deputy chief of logistics of the Baltic Fleet , as well as chief of logistics of the Kronstadt Naval Base [2] . June 17, 1942 he was awarded the title of Major General of the Quartermaster Service. He died on September 10, 1944 [3] , was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow [2] .
