Located on the river Yevleik (Vilyayka), 37 km from the district center and 50 km from the railway station Saransk. The name is anthroponym. It was first mentioned in 1807 in the “List of Populated Places of the Penza Province” (1869) Staraya Fedorovka — a state-owned village out of 142 courtyards of Insarsk Uyezd . According to the 1913 home census, there were 263 courtyards in the Old Fedorovka (1,773 people); parish school, distillery and small shops. In the early 1930s. a collective farm was created to them. Stalin, since 1956 - to them. Kalinina, since 1997 - SKHPK Starofyodorsky. In a modern village - a secondary school, a first-aid post, a shop. The village of Starofyodorov includes the village. Ivanovka (28 people; homeland of the spinner N.I. Tereshkina).
