The Destroyer is a painting by the American artist Frank Frazetta . The general public is known as "Conan the Destroyer" ( Eng. Conan the Destroyer ); Despite this, not one of Frazetta’s paintings depicting the character of Robert Howard Conan’s short stories has a character name [1] . In the picture, Conan is depicted fighting alone against numerous enemies.

History
The picture was painted on canvas with oil paints in 1971.
Illustrations
The painting was used to illustrate the adventure novel by John Maddox Roberts “Conan in the Citadel of Darkness” [2] , the novels “Sea Witch” [3] , “Trail of the Giant” [4] , “Lord of Samarkand” [5] and many other books.
Selling paintings
Despite the great popularity of the painting and its use to illustrate books, sensational news was the sale of the original on July 23, 2010 for $ 1.5 million at the Comic Con festival in San Diego . The painting was purchased by a private collector; it is known that at the moment this is the most expensive picture of Frank Frazetta [6] ; it was sold two months after the death of the artist himself [7] [8] .
