Tiger Airways Australia Pty Ltd is an Australian budget airline operating under the Tigerair Australia brand and was founded on November 23, 2007. Prior to the rebranding in 2014, it was called Tiger Airways Australia. The airline is a joint venture of a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines - Tiger Airways Holdings and Australian airline Virgin Australia . The main base of Tigerair Australia is Melbourne Airport . Until 2011, the airline used the airport in Adelaide and Melbourne Avalon Airport. On March 7, 2012, Tigerair announced the opening of a second hub at Sydney Airport , [2] and on November 1 of the same year, the airline was returning to Adelaide Airport.
