Located on the left bank of the river. Irset, 28 km from the district center and 60 km from the Saransk railway station. It was first mentioned in 1662. In the “List of Populated Places of the Nizhny Novgorod Province” (1863), the Irset is a village of 59 yards (532 people) of the Lukoyanovsky District . In 1931, there were 167 households in the village (892 people). In 1932 the Krasnaya Zvezda collective farm was established, in 1986 the united collective farm Temyashevsky, since 1997 the SEC Irsetsky, and in 1998 the K (F) X Don. In the modern infrastructure of the village - a school, medical center, shop. Near Irset - the settlement of the bronze age . Irset village administration includes the village of Avgury (113 people).
