Video of the final race of the European Championship 2014 (English)

The women's 5000 meters final was held on August 16, 2014 (the preliminary round was canceled due to a small number of participants). Two athletes who had already become European champions in Zurich, Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands , who had won the 1500 meters run the day before, and Briton Joanne Pavey , who had the lead over the 10-kilometer distance, met in the same race. Most of the race participants were held in the general group at a low pace of running. For 800 meters before the finish, Dutchwoman Susan Keiken was the first to speed up. On the last lap, on the site of the leader, her replacement was Eritrake Meraf Baht , who was in favor of Sweden , and Hassan and Russian Elena Korobkina , who had pulled herself up, supplemented the quartet of candidates for medals. In a stubborn confrontation with Hassan at the finish line, gold won more recent Bakhta, and bronze - Keiken, ahead of Korobkin for a few fractions of a second [1] .
